26 LC 129 1380 House Resolution 1783 By: Representative Santos of the 117th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mrs. Keila Harvey; and for other purposes.1 W H E R E A S , M r s . K e i l a H a r v e y i s a v i s i o n a r y d a n c e e d u c a t o r w i t h over 38 years of2 experience in multiple dance disciplines as well as more than 2 5 years of teaching and3 mentoring students in the art of dance; and4 WHEREAS, in 2005, she founded the Gift of Dance Studio, fulfilling her lifelong dream of5 opening her own dance school; and6 WHEREAS, in addition to her work as an instructor and studio director, Mrs. Harvey served7 as the leader of 7th Day Evangelism Dance Ministry with the Fis hers of Men Outreach8 Ministry at New Birth Cathedral in Lithonia, Georgia; taught public school for nine years in9 Clayton County; and was the Co-Director of the Mt. Zion High School Dance Academy and10 Mt. Zion Magnet High School in Jonesboro; and11 WHEREAS, she performed professionally as a ballerina across the country with the Atlanta12 Festival Ballet and trained at several prestigious institutions, including Boston Ballet Center13 for Dance Education, the Atlanta Ballet, Ball Ethnic Academy fo r Dance Education,14 Southern Methodist University, and the Governor's Honors Program; and15 H. R. 1783 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1380 WHEREAS, Mrs. Harvey has also appeared as a featured dancer on the singing competition16 show Sunday's Best, as well as was on the television series Lovecraft County and Genius:17 Aretha; and18 WHEREAS, along with her staff and students at the Gift of Dance Studio, Mrs. Harvey was19 featured on the televison programs Made and Bring It!; and20 WHEREAS, under her tutelage, her trainees have achieved many honors, including Scream21 Tour (concert) performers, Fort Valley State University Dancing Doll Divas and Dancing22 Diva Doll Captain, Valdosta State University Dance major gradua tes, cruise ship dancers,23 Alvin Ailey camp participants, Dance Theater of Harlem camp participants, back up dancers24 for various artists and videos, regional and national dance competition winners, Governor's25 Honors Program nominees and attendees, and impressive accomplis hments on the hit TV26 show So You Think You Can Dance; and27 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mrs. Keila Ha rvey be appropriately28 honored for her outstanding dedication to teaching, inspiring, and mentoring young dancers. 29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Keila Harve y and extend their31 sincere best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.34 Keila Harvey.35 H.
