26 LC 112 3914 House Resolution 1782 By: Representatives Santos of the 117th, Holly of the 116th, Flournoy of the 74th, Douglas of the 78th, and Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Commending Southern Crescent Technical College for its contribu tions to workforce1 development, student success, and technical education; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Southern Crescent Technical College provides high-quality technical education3 and workforce training that supports economic growth and career development across the4 State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, the college serves more than 14,000 students annually across multiple6 campuses, offering associate degrees, diplomas, and technical c ertificates in high-demand7 fields such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, information technology, logistics,8 business, and public safety; and9 WHEREAS, Southern Crescent Technical College plays a vital role in preparing Georgia's10 workforce by partnering with local employers, industries, and community leaders to ensure11 students gain practical skills that meet the needs of today's economy; and12 WHEREAS, the institution is led by President Dr. Irvin T. Clark III, whose leadership has13 strengthened workforce development initiatives and expanded edu cational opportunities14 throughout the South Atlanta region; and15 H. R. 1782 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3914 WHEREAS, Dr. Clark has been recognized as one of Georgia Trend's 500 Most Influential16 Leaders in Georgia for 2025 and has received the Excellence in Education and Workforce17 Development Award for his leadership and contributions to advan cing education and18 economic development in Georgia; and19 WHEREAS, students of Southern Crescent Technical College have d emonstrated20 outstanding achievement through programs such as the Georgia Oc cupational Award of21 Leadership (GOAL) and competitions such as SkillsUSA, where students have earned state22 and national recognition for excellence in technical and career skills; and23 WHEREAS, these accomplishments reflect the dedication of the college's faculty, staff, and24 students to academic excellence, leadership, and service to their communities.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body commend Southern Crescent Technical College for its significant27 contributions to education, workforce development, and student achievement and extend best28 wishes for continued success in the years ahead.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 Southern Crescent Technical College.32 H.
