26 LC 112 3997 House Resolution 1820 By: Representatives Scott of the 76th, Bell of the 75th, Flournoy of the 74th, Burnough of the 77th, and Douglas of the 78th A RESOLUTION Commending Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Slade; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Slade is an exceptional young leader, scholar,2 aviator, and innovator who represents Morrow High School, Clayton County, and the State3 of Georgia with distinction, discipline, and excellence; and4 WHEREAS, Jonah has been educat ed within Clayton County Public S chools from5 kindergarten through 12th grade, demonstrating consistent acade mic achievement,6 perseverance, and a commitment to personal growth; and7 WHEREAS, as a Class of 2026 senior and aviator at Morrow High School, he serves as the8 Commander of Cadet Operations in the distinguished GA-791 Corps of Cadets, where he9 leads with integrity, sets the standard for excellence, and men tors fellow cadets in10 responsibility, teamwork, and service; and11 WHEREAS, under his leadership, the Corps of Cadets continues to exemplify discipline,12 unity, and dedication to the highest standards of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps13 (JROTC) program; and14 H. R. 1820 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3997 WHEREAS, before rising to command within JROTC, Jonah demonstra ted early15 entrepreneurial vision as Founder and CEO of Jonah and the Blockheads, a youth-centered16 initiative dedicated to strengthening motor skills, reading comprehension, and the ability of17 elementary school students to follow directions—thereby shaping the next generation18 through innovation, compassion, and creativity; and19 WHEREAS, further exemplifying his drive and ambition, Jonah is a dual-enrolled student20 at Middle Georgia State University, where he is pursuing aviation studies and has logged 2221 flight hours toward earning his private pilot's license, demons trating his determination to22 "Aim High" and achieve excellence beyond the classroom; and23 WHEREAS, Jonah Slade stands as a powerful example of leadership , character, and24 resilience, challenging stereotypes and redefining narratives about urban youth by proving25 that vision, discipline, and opportunity produce excellence; and26 WHEREAS, he is recognized by his peers as a team player, mentor , and role model who27 leads classmates in doing the right thing and inspires others to pursue their dreams without28 hesitation; and29 WHEREAS, his accomplishments reflect not only personal success but a deep commitment30 to uplifting others and serving his community with honor and purpose.31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32 the members of this body commend Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jonah S l a d e f o r h i s33 outstanding leadership, academic excellence, entrepreneurial in novation, and aviation34 achievements as well as recognize him as a true Rising Star in Clayton County and the State35 of Georgia.36 H. R. 1820 - 2 - 26 LC 112 3997 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized37 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Cadet38 Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Slade.39 H.
