26 LC 112 3987 Senate Resolution 995 By: Senator Bearden of the 30th A RESOLUTION Commending the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant upon its 20th anniversary; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, established in 2006 in Tallapoosa, Georgia, this year marks the 20th anniversary3 of the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant; and4 WHEREAS, since beginning transmission production, the plant has grown from a small5 assembly operation into a 575,000-square-foot advanced manufact uring facility that6 represents more than $600 million in cumulative capital investments; and7 WHEREAS, the plant produces Honda's state-of-the-art 10-speed automatic transmissions8 and has an annual production capacity of 375,000 V-6 automatic transmissions; and9 WHEREAS, Honda is an important manufacturing employer in the Ta llapoosa and the10 Haralson County region, and the Georgia Transmission Plant provides jobs for nearly 48011 associates; and12 S. R. 995 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3987 WHEREAS, its employees are staunch supporters of Haralson Count y who unselfishly13 devote innumerable hours of their time and talents to the commu nity through charitable14 initiatives and rural health care programs; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this16 extraordinary plant be appropriately honored during this special time.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 commend the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant upon the grand occ asion its 20th19 anniversary as well as extend best wishes for many more years of successful operation.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the22 press.23 S.
