26 LC 112 3934 House Resolution 1806 By: Representatives Ali of the 106th, McClain of the 109th, Okoye of the 102nd, Clark of the 108th, Park of the 107th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Cheryl Annette Williams; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Cheryl Annette Williams on January 9, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, Cheryl Annette Williams was born on December 25, 1945, in Rome, Georgia,4 a beloved daughter of Henry and Martha Whittenburg Collins; and5 WHEREAS, a proud member of the Democratic Party, she held leadership positions at both6 the state and local level, including vice chair of the Gwinnett County Democrats and chair7 of the Seventh Congressional District in the Georgia Democratic Party; and8 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to her devoted hus band of 58 years,9 George, and the two served as proud delegates at multiple conventions representing the State10 of Georgia; and11 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Cheryl Annette Will iams was an active12 member of Parkway Baptist Church, where her spirit and service have left a lasting impact;13 and14 H. R. 1806 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3934 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern15 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to16 her family and friends were admired by others; and17 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation18 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,19 she made this world a better place in which to live; and20 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Cheryl Annette Williams will long be21 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who22 had the great fortune of knowing her.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Cheryl Annette Williams25 and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the28 family of Cheryl Annette Williams.29 H.
