A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To abolish the office of elected county surveyor of Cobb County ; to provide for the1
appointment of a county surveyor by the governing authority of the county after January 1,2
2029; to provide for successors; to provide for qualifications; to provide for an effective date;3
to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
SECTION 1.6
Pursuant to the authority granted by Code Section 36-7-2.1 of the O.C.G.A., as of January 1,7
2029, the office of elected county surveyor of Cobb County shall be abolished. After such8
date the governing authority of Cobb County shall appoint a qua lified person to hold the9
office of county surveyor. The appointing resolution may provi de for the term of10
appointment; otherwise, the county surveyor shall serve an indefinite term at the pleasure of11
the governing authority. Succe ssors shall be a ppointed in the same manner. Any person12
appointed county surveyor shall possess the qualifications spec ified by paragraph (1) of13
subsection (b) of Code Section 36-7-2 of the O.C.G.A.14

SECTION 2.15
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law16
without such approval.17
SECTION 3.18
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.19
