26 LC 39 5098 Senate Resolution 1001 By: Senators McNeel of the 18th and Williams of the 25th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., and dedicating a bridge in1 his memory; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., graduated from Swainsboro High School and3 attended the University of Georgia's College of Pharmacy; and4 WHEREAS, he cofounded Lawson & Cromer Pharmacy and dedicated ov er four decades5 of his life to serving his customers with professionalism, compassion, and kindness; and6 WHEREAS, Mr. Lawson was a consistent and consummate presence in the civic life of the7 City of Forsyth, serving on numerous boards and committees over the years; and8 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Lawson was an active member of Forsyth9 United Methodist Church; and10 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation11 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he12 made this world a better place in which to live; and13 S. R. 1001 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5098 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished14 Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating a bridge in his memory.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL16 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 83 over Tobe sofkee Creek in17 Monroe County is dedicated as the Jimmy N. Lawson, Sr. Memorial Bridge.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and19 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Jimmy N. Lawson, Sr.20 Memorial Bridge.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to the family of23 Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., and to the Department of Transportation.24 S.
