26 LC 129 1414 House Resolution 1804 By: Representative Gaines of the 120th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of George Allen Whittenburg III; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of George Allen Whittenburg III on January 30, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, George Allen Whittenburg III was born on November 12, 2004, in Austin4 Texas, a beloved son of Julie Elizabeth Cleveland Whittenburg a nd James Smith Bynum5 Whittenburg and a devoted brother of Rachael and Rebecca Whittenburg; and6 WHEREAS, as a student at the University of Georgia, he was a me mber of the Sigma Phi7 Epsilon fraternity and was heavily involved in Cru, an interdenominational campus ministry;8 and 9 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern10 for his peers, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family11 and friends were admired by others; and12 H. R. 1804 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1414 WHEREAS, George will long be remembered for his love of the out doors–particularly13 fly-fishing, hiking, and playing basketball with his friends, as well as raising chickens and14 cattle with his dad; and15 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation16 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he17 made this world a better place in which to live; and18 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous young man, George will lo ng be remembered19 for his love of God, family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had20 the great fortune of knowing him.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of George Allen Whittenburg23 III and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 family of George Allen Whittenburg III.27 H.
