26 LC 129 1412 House Resolution 1817 By: Representative Williams of the 148th A RESOLUTION Commending the Wilcox County Lady Patriots basketball team for winning the 2026 GHSA1 Class A Division II Girls Basketball State Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Wilcox County girls basketball team has established and maintained a proud3 tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and4 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball5 competition by posting an outstanding record of 29 wins and one loss; and6 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team7 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable8 2026 campaign, the team captured its second girls basketball state championship, securing9 back-to-back titles for the first time in program history; and10 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding11 athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity o f purpose and spirit of each12 member of the team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of13 Head Coach Santita Coon; and14 H. R. 1817 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1412 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by15 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is16 abundantly proper to call them champions.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body commend the Wilcox County Lady Patriot s basketball team for19 winning the 2026 GHSA Class A Division II Girls Basketball Stat e Championship and20 extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the23 Wilcox County Lady Patriots basketball team.24 H.
