26 LC 112 4003 House Resolution 1803 By: Representative Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mamie G. Jones; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize and celebrate th e life of citizens whose2 dedication to faith, family, service, and community has left a lasting impact on all who knew3 them; and4 WHEREAS, Mamie G. Jones was born on August 2, 1940, in Gadsden County, Florida, to5 Goldie and John Spencer Harrison, and from an early age, she wa s nurtured in a Christian6 home grounded in faith, compassion, and service to others; and7 WHEREAS, she joined Hopewell A.M.E. Church, where she faithfully served throughout8 her life and demonstrated unwavering commitment to her church and community; and9 WHEREAS, during her years of service at Hopewell A.M.E. Church, Mamie G. Jones10 exemplified leadership and devotion, serving as a member of the Trustee Board, President11 of the Graveyard Committee, Secretary of the Quincy District Lay Organization, Secretary12 of the Florida Conference of Lay Organizations, and Director of Lay Activities of the Quincy13 District; and14 H. R. 1803 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4003 WHEREAS, Mamie G. Jones was a proud graduate of Carter-Parramor e High School in15 Quincy, Florida, Class of 1959, and she carried forward the val ues of education,16 perseverance, and service throughout her life; and17 WHEREAS, she dedicated many years of professional service to Florida A&M University,18 working on the clerical and housing staff, where she assisted a nd supported thousands of19 students, demonstrating kindness, professionalism, and a genuine care for others; and20 WHEREAS, she was a woman known for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering21 commitment to others, always putting the needs of family, frien ds, and community before22 her own and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered; and23 WHEREAS, Mamie G. Jones departed this life on July 25, 1992, af ter a lengthy illness,24 leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that continues to inspire those who knew25 and loved her; and26 WHEREAS, she leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters, Sandra G. Scott of27 Savannah, Georgia, and Evelyn G. Faison of Havana, Florida; grandsons, Dexter X. Scott,28 Savannah, and Quantarious "Chucky" Faison; son-in-law, Edward J . Scott; sisters, Mattie29 Grice, Letha Harrison, and Bessie Manuel; brother-in-law, Lawrence Carl Grice; and a host30 of cousins, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives were blessed by her31 presence; and32 WHEREAS, the life of Mamie G. Jones stands as a shining example of faith, devotion, and33 servant leadership, and her memory remains a source of strength and inspiration to her family34 and community.35 H. R. 1803 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4003 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that36 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory o f Mamie G. Jones and37 express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.38 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized39 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the40 family of Mamie G.
