26 LC 112 3956 House Resolution 1827 By: Representatives Gambill of the 15th, Kelley of the 16th, Silcox of the 53rd, McDonald III of the 26th, and Efstration of the 104th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Thomas "Tommy's" Barber Shop; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, in September 2025, Thomas "Tommy's" Barber Shop enjoye d the rare2 distinction of celebrating the 66th anniversary of its founding; and3 WHEREAS, founded in September 1959, in Buckhead, Georgia, by Gi lmer "Tommy"4 Thomas Sr., this outstanding barbershop has grown from its humble beginnings to become5 a well-known staple in the Buckhead community; and6 WHEREAS, this remarkable small business has served numerous sen ators, congressmen,7 state legislators, governors, mayors, executives, captains of i ndustry, and professional8 athletes, including Coca-Cola Company Chairman Robert Woodruff, Governor Brian Kemp,9 Senator Johnny Isakson, Governor Joe Frank Harris, Governor Nathan Deal, Coach Vince10 Dooley, and Sports Reporter Furman Bisher, as well as many local residents; and11 WHEREAS, Thomas "Tommy's" Barber Shop started collecting commemorative Coca-Cola12 bottles in 1977 and is currently the only business in the world that Coca-Cola has produced13 four commemorative bottles recognizing their 40th, 50th, 60th, and 65th year in business;14 and15 H. R. 1827 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3956 WHEREAS, the barbers of Thomas "Tommy's" Barber Shop support th eir community by16 unselfishly devoting innumerable hours of their time and talents to the area; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this18 extraordinary barbershop be appropriately recognized.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body congratulate Thomas "Tommy's" Barber S hop upon the grand21 occasion of its 66th anniversary; commend it for its many years of successful operation; and22 extend best wishes for its continued growth, development, and success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Thomas "Tommy's" Barber Shop.26 H.
