A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commend Dr. Robert O. Scott; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, on May 1, 2025, Dr. Robert O. Scott became the 11th president of Albany State2
University, bringing with him a distinguished career spanning h igher education, scientific3
research, and global industry leadership; and4
WHEREAS, founded in 1903, Albany State University stands as one of the State of Georgia's5
most prestigious universities and is a cornerstone of opportunity in the state and region; and6
WHEREAS, for more than a century, the Historically Black College and University (HBCU)7
has advanced academic excellence, social mobility, and economic impact, preparing8
generations of students to lead, serve, and transform their communities; and9
WHEREAS, Dr. Scott, a first-generation college graduate, earned his bachelor's degree from10
Norfolk State University, an HBCU, as a DNIMAS scholar, and lat er became the first11
DNIMAS scholar to earn a Ph.D., completing his doctoral studies at Georgia Institute of12
Technology; and13

WHEREAS, his distinguished career spans academic leadership at institutions including14
Norfolk State University, Boston College, and Spelman college a s well as senior and15
development research roles at Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola C ompany, Abbott16
Nutrition, and The Kraft Heinz Company; and17
WHEREAS, as president of Albany State University, Dr. Scott leads with a vison centered18
on student excellence, accountability, and growth, focusing on laying a strong foundation for19
future success; and 20
WHEREAS, Dr. Scott's deep personal commitment to students succe ss, innovation, and21
partnership have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and22
WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for23
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Robert O. Sc ott and extend their28
sincere best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.31
Robert O. Scott.32
