26 LC 129 1467 House Resolution 1838 By: Representatives Crawford of the 89th, Oliver of the 84th, Gunter of the 8th, Thomas of the 21st, and Cannon of the 172nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Liz Fernandes; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Liz Fernandes has been working2 in the game of golf as an assistant golf professional, a colleg e coach, and a teaching3 professional since obtaining her degree in 2012; and4 WHEREAS, Fernandes has spent time as a golf fitness specialist and teaching professional5 at notable courses around the c ountry including The Quarry in L a Quinta, California, and6 Scarsdale Golf Club in Hartsdale, New York as well as at the Un iversity of Louisville,7 Spalding University, and the University of North Carolina; and8 WHEREAS, currently Fernandes serves as the head coach of the Eagles golf team at Emory9 University; and10 WHEREAS, in her first season as head coach, the Eagles took home a second place victory11 at the NCAA Championships; and12 WHEREAS, she has mentored historic Eagle's athletes Sharon Mun, Carys Code, Ellen13 Dong, and Zimo Li; and14 H. R. 1838 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1467 WHEREAS, in Fernandes' second season with the Eagles, they adde d another NCAA15 Championship title and athlete Carys Code made history as the second Eagle to ever win the16 individual NCAA Championship title; and17 WHEREAS, Fernandes is a dedicated and passionate coach with an unwavering commitment18 to athlete success both on and off the course; and19 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor this remarkable mentor and coach.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and commend Liz Fernandes and extend their sincere22 best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Liz25 Fernandes.26 H.
