26 LC 129 1466 House Resolution 1835 By: Representatives Crawford of the 89th, Oliver of the 84th, Gunter of the 8th, Thomas of the 21st, and Cannon of the 172nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Carys Code; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Carys Code is student-athlete from Calgary, Alberta, C anada, majoring in2 business with concentrations in finance and accounting at Goizu eta Business School, and3 minoring in economics at Emory College; and4 WHEREAS, she has been playing golf competitively for the last five years, demonstrating5 integrity, hard work, and discipline; and6 WHEREAS, an analytical and detail-oriented young woman, Carys i s motivated by7 challenges and new learning opportunities, allowing her to excel in academics, on the golf8 course, and in her extracurriculars; and9 WHEREAS, her athletic resume includes but is not limited to: ea rning the 2025 NCAA10 Division III Individual Champion, WGCA Southeast All-Region, WG CA Scholar11 All-American, and All-UAA First Team Honors; playing on the CSC Academic All-America12 First Team and WGCA All-America First Team; as well as playing in 10 tournaments at the13 UAA Championships this season, averaging 75.4 across 25 rounds of competition, shooting14 H. R. 1835 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1466 a season-low of 70 in the third round at the NCAA Championships , and finishing in the15 top-50 in each event before winning the NCAA Championships; and16 WHEREAS, Carys became the second Emory Eagle in program history to win the individual17 national title with her NCAA record breaking performance; and18 WHEREAS, she established herself in the NCAA history books as w ell established an19 NCAA DIII championship record with her four-day total of 285 beating Carnegie Mellon's20 Cecilia Jia by two strokes; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the outstanding achievements of this 22 remarkable student-athlete.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and commend Carys Code and extend their sincere best25 wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Carys28 Code.29 H.
