26 LC 112 4017 House Resolution 1863 By: Representatives Santos of the 117th, Sanchez of the 42nd, Flournoy of the 74th, Holly of the 116th, Bell of the 75th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 26, 2026, as We Are CASA Day at the state cap itol; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, We Are CASA is a Georgia organization that unifies imm igrant and3 working-class families to build power and improve the quality of life in Black, Latino/a/e,4 Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and immigrant communities; and5 WHEREAS, We Are CASA is an individual membership organization with more than 4506 members in Georgia, dozens of whom come to the state capitol on a regular basis; and7 WHEREAS, We Are CASA creates change in comm unities by blending human services,8 community organizing, and advocacy in order to serve the full s pectrum of the needs,9 dreams, and aspirations of its members; and10 WHEREAS, We Are CASA unites community members for advocacy camp aigns such as11 tenants rights following the passage of HB 404 and student safety in the wake of increasing12 federal enforcement actions across the state; and13 H. R. 1863 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4017 WHEREAS, We Are CASA, in the last year alone, has equipped over 400 people with health14 insurance through a partnership with Kaiser Permanente; and15 WHEREAS, We Are CASA members contribute to their local communit ies by filling16 essential jobs, growing faith-based communities, engaging in th eir children's schools, and17 fighting to ensure their housing rights and those of their neighbors are respected; and18 WHEREAS, We Are CASA's staff provide access to health services, English classes, "Know19 Your Rights" seminars, and legal clinics with the help of partner non-profits and the private20 bar; and21 WHEREAS, We Are CASA, through their C4, We Are CASA Action, has helped register22 over 1,400 new voters and engaged hundreds of voters at their doors; and23 WHEREAS, the members of We Are CASA are people who have chosen Georgia as their24 home; a state where they are buying homes, growing businesses, raising children, and25 contributing to the culture and economy of our state.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize March 26, 2026, as We Are CA SA Day at the state28 capitol.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the31 public and the press.32 H.
