26 LC 129 1468 House Resolution 1880 By: Representatives Mitchell of the 88th and Alexander of the 66th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Rasheeda Frost; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Rasheeda Frost is an American rapper, television personality, and entrepreneur2 who rose to prominence in the Southern hip-hop scene before becoming a major reality-TV3 figure and businesswoman; and4 WHEREAS, Rasheeda was born in Decatur, Illinois, and moved to Atlanta at age 14, where5 she began developing her music career and entered the music sce ne as a member of the6 female hip-hop trio Da Kaperz, which gained attention in Atlanta during the late 1990s; and7 WHEREAS, her early exposure to Atlanta's rapidly growing hip-hop culture helped shape8 her sound and business mindset, which would later define her br and as a "boss chick"9 entrepreneur and artist; and10 WHEREAS, after departing from the female hip-hop trio Da Kaperz, Rasheeda launched her11 solo career in 2000 and quickly established herself as a prominent voice in Southern hip-hop,12 gaining widespread recognition for hit record s ,including "Do I t," "Type of Girl," "My13 Bubble Gum," "Vibrate," and "Marry Me"; and14 H. R. 1880 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1468 WHEREAS, in 2001, she released her debut album Dirty South, featuring collaborations with15 artists such as Nelly and Pastor Troy, solidifying her presence in the industry; and16 WHEREAS, she followed up in 2002 with A Ghetto Dream, an independent release under17 her own label, D-Lo Entertainment, showcasing her early business acumen; and18 WHEREAS, Rasheeda continued to build her catalog with subsequent projects including GA19 Peach (2006), Dat Type of Gurl (2007), Certified Hot Chick (2009), and Boss Chick Music20 (2012), further cementing her legacy as both an independent art ist and a trailblazing21 entrepreneur in hip-hop; and 22 WHEREAS, in 2012, Rasheeda joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, which follows23 the careers and personal lives of Atlanta's music industry figu res; the show dramatically24 increased her visibility, documenting her music career, entrepreneurial ventures, as well as25 her marriage and business partnership with Kirk Frost; and26 WHEREAS, beyond music and television, Rasheeda has built a strong reputation as a serial27 entrepreneur, successfully expanding her brand across multiple industries; and 28 WHEREAS, her business ventures include Pressed Boutique, a popular fashion retail store29 with locations in Atlanta and Houston; Poiz Cosmetics, her beauty and makeup line; Frost30 Bistro & Bar, an Atlanta-based restaurant she co-owns with her husband Kirk Frost; and31 service on the board for Herbal Honesty, a health and wellness herbal brand; and32 WHEREAS, through her strategic ability to leverage her televisi on platform into thriving33 business opportunities, Rasheeda has established herself as a r espected Black female34 entrepreneur in both the entertainment and retail spaces; and 35 H. R. 1880 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1468 WHEREAS, her journey reflects resilience, reinvention, and a sh arp business mindset,36 allowing her to remain relevant across evolving generations of culture and media; and 37 WHEREAS, today, Rasheeda stands as a blueprint for independent success, continuing to38 inspire aspiring artists and entrepreneurs alike by proving tha t longevity in the industry is39 built not just on talent, but on ownership, vision, and the ability to evolve.40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that41 the members of this body recognize and commend Rasheeda Frost f or her invaluable42 contributions to the communities she has served.43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized44 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to45 Rasheeda Frost.46 H.
