A RESOLUTION
Commending Mayor Jimmy Daniels Jr. for his outstanding leadersh ip, service, and1
commitment to the citizens of Oglethorpe and the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mayor Jimmy Daniels Jr. serves with distinction as the current Mayor of the3
City of Oglethorpe, Georgia, acting as the elected executive for this municipality in Macon4
County and providing dedicated leadership to its citizens; and5
WHEREAS, a proud native of Macon County, Georgia, Mayor Daniels is a 2008 graduate6
of Macon County High School and has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to education,7
earning an associate degree from Reedley Community College in 2010, a bachelor's degree8
from Alabama State University in 2013, and a master's degree fr om Georgia College and9
State University in 2021; and10
WHEREAS, in addition to his public service, Mayor Daniels has d evoted his professional11
career to education as a middle school teacher, serving Exceptional Student Education (ESE)12
students and as the varsity girls head basketball coach at Maco n County High School,13
shaping the minds and futures of countless young people; and14

WHEREAS, upon returning to his hometown, he founded the E.P.I.C . Mentorship15
Program—Encouraging, Positive, Inspiring Careers—a community-based initiative dedicated16
to fostering academic excellence, leadership development, and l ife skills among youth17
through tutoring, mentorship, and service; and18
WHEREAS, further demonstrating his commitment to youth development, Mayor Daniels19
established the G.E.N.T.S. Club—Growing, Evolving, Nurturing Te enagers—which20
promotes positive behavior, academic achievement, and leadershi p among young men21
through structured mentorship and high standards; and22
WHEREAS, his service to the community also includes coaching varsity football, serving23
as a middle school athletic director, and leading multiple youth sports programs, all while24
instilling discipline, teamwork, and confidence in student-athletes; and25
WHEREAS, Mayor Daniels' impactful leadership and service have e arned him numerous26
honors, including the NAACP "Making a Difference" Award (2019-2 020), recognition as27
a 40 Under 40 Rural Leader (2022-2023), the Georgia Good Samari tan Honoree Award28
(2023-2024), and the Fort Valley State Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.29
Community Service Award (2023-2024); and30
WHEREAS, now serving in his first term, Mayor Daniels continues to exemplify servant31
leadership while balancing his roles as a motivational speaker, coach, mentor, father, and32
community advocate; and33
WHEREAS, guided by his belief that "it's easier to raise young men than repair grown men,"34
he has dedicated his life to uplifting others and building stro nger communities through35
education, mentorship, and service; and36

WHEREAS, he is a devoted father to his young daughter and a valued member of his family37
as the fourth of seven child ren, enjoying reading, hunting, fishing, coaching, and helping38
others; and39
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstandi ng accomplishments,40
service, and leadership of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.41
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body42
c o m m e n d M a y o r J i m m y D a n i e l s J r . f o r h i s e x e m p l a r y l e a d e r s h i p , dedication to youth43
development, and unwavering service to the City of Oglethorpe and the State of Georgia.44
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed45
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Mayor Jimmy46
Daniels Jr.47
