26 LC 129 1470 House Resolution 1881 By: Representatives Mitchell of the 88th and Alexander of the 66th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mariah HuQ; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Mariah HuQ is a nationally recognized media leader, en trepreneur, and2 philanthropist whose work reflects a deep commitment to communi ty service, cultural3 integrity, and civic responsibility; and4 WHEREAS, raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mariah developed an early passion for5 storytelling, leading her to pursue studies in communications at Tennessee State University6 and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; and7 WHEREAS, she began her career in broadcast journalism as a vide o news editor and8 associate producer at WRCB-TV, Chattanooga's NBC affiliate; and9 WHEREAS, building on her experience in media, Mariah later tran sitioned into10 pharmaceutical and medical device sales while raising her famil y with her husband, Dr.11 Aydin HuQ; and12 WHEREAS, together, they are the proud parents of two children who embody their shared13 commitment to education and service; and14 H. R. 1881 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1470 WHEREAS, Mariah is widely recognized as the creator, co-star, and executive producer of15 Bravo TV's Married to Medicine; and 16 WHEREAS, with the release of Married to Medicine in 2013, she became the first African17 American woman to develop an original franchise for Bravo TV; and18 WHEREAS, the series premiered as Bravo's highest-rated non-spin off freshman show,19 attracting more than 2.7 million viewers in its debut season, and now in its 12th season, the20 series has reached over 27 million viewers and continues to highlight the lives of professional21 women and families within the medical community; and 22 WHEREAS, Mariah's perseverance in conceptualizing, casting, and independently pitching23 the series exemplifies her leadership, vision, and commitment to authentic storytelling; and24 WHEREAS, Mariah is the founder of Reality Reprogrammed, a forwa rd-thinking media25 initiative focused on responsible storytelling, creator ownership, cultural accountability, and26 public trust; and27 WHEREAS, she is also the founder of Sleek Media Studios, a crea tive hub located in28 downtown McDonough, Georgia, designed to support filmmakers, pr oducers, content29 creators, and entrepreneurs through access to professional reso urces, training, and30 community collaboration; and31 WHEREAS, Mariah is profoundly dedicated to philanthropy and civic engagement; she has32 been honored with the Ruby Hurley Humanitarian of the Year Awar d, as well as received33 numerous recognitions for her service, including an Outstanding Service Award from the34 H. R. 1881 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1470 State of Tennessee, the Chattanooga Humanitarian Award, and an official Proclamation35 recognizing Mariah HuQ Day; and 36 WHEREAS, her philanthropic work supports educational access, hu manitarian relief, and37 community development both domestically and internationally through organizations such38 as the Solaiman Foundation; and 39 WHEREAS, Mariah now calls Georgia her home, where she continues her commitment to40 service by supporting families, students, and community-based organizations throughout the41 state; and42 WHEREAS, her efforts include providing scholarships, educationa l resources, medical43 supplies, and essential goods to underserved populations, as we ll as mentoring and44 workforce-development initiatives that empower aspiring creators and entrepreneurs; and 45 WHEREAS, her work reflects a long-term investment in strengthen ing Georgia's cultural,46 economic, and creative landscape; and 47 WHEREAS, Mariah's family activ ely participates in initiatives t hat reinforce values of48 service and global citizenship through outreach efforts in Georgia, Tennessee, and abroad,49 including support for the Kebene Children's Home in Mombasa, Kenya; and 50 WHEREAS, Mariah HuQ exemplifies the principles of civic leaders hip, service, and51 integrity; she seamlessly integrates professional excellence, c ommunity engagement, and52 family values, serving as an inspiration to others while making a meaningful and lasting53 impact on the communities she serves; and 54 H. R. 1881 - 3 - 26 LC 129 1470 WHEREAS, Mariah's contributions continue to uplift voices, stre ngthen institutions, and55 advance a vision of leadership grounded in responsibility, inclusion, and service. 56 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that57 the members of this body recognize and commend Mariah HuQ for h er invaluable58 contributions to the communities she has served. 59 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized60 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to61 Mariah HuQ.62 H.
