HR1871: HR1871 House interns; 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia; commend

26 LC 112 3974 House Resolution 1871 By: Representative Burns of the 159th A RESOLUTION Commending the House interns for the 2026 regular session of th e General Assembly of1 Georgia; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Legislative Internship Program is one of t he nation's oldest3 educational internships to focus on the state legislative process; and4 WHEREAS, the internship program is a cooperative venture between the General Assembly5 of Georgia and institutions of higher learning in Georgia, and it provides a select group of6 students with in-depth exposure to the House of Representatives and the Senate by assigning7 them positions with key standing committees and legislative leaders; and8 WHEREAS, the students selected for the House Legislative Intern ship Program represent9 some of the best and the brightest college students in this state who share a genuine interest10 in the law making process and a potential commitment to public service; and11 WHEREAS, participants in this outstanding program are students from Augusta University,12 the College of Coastal Georgia, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia13 Southern University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State U niversity, Oglethorpe14 University, the University of Georgia, and the University of West Georgia; and15 H. R. 1871 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3974 WHEREAS, the unique experience of participating as a House inte rn has undoubtedly16 enriched the academic study these college students have completed; and17 WHEREAS, the members of the standing committees and the legislative leaders who greatly18 benefit from the service of these interns salute each of these students on a job well done:19 Brianna Speizer, Sophia Avalos, Anna Carver, Elliott Adkins, Michelle Belenkiy, Stephen20 Blaise Maddox, Audrey Ferguson-Brown, Daniella Gazzara, Adelaid a Jaramillo, Aubrey21 Poole, Virthiha Selvamuthukumaran, Jeanne Yoon, Tyler Bennett, Jorge Millan Merchan,22 Haru Sakurai, Giselle Vazquez, Brenda Washington, Owen Hawkins, Meredith Haydel,23 Shana Johns, Mary Collins, Lily Cone, Victor Avila, Lashawn Brown, Edy Lee, and Sierra24 Hallett.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body commend the House interns for the 2026 regular session of the27 General Assembly of Georgia on their superb performance and extend the most sincere best28 wishes for success in their future pursuits.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to each31 of the interns named herein.32 H.
