26 LC 112 4034 House Resolution 1847 By: Representatives Lupton of the 83rd, Roberts of the 52nd, and Lim of the 98th A RESOLUTION Recognizing the educational, civic, and leadership impact of th e Leadership Training1 Program and commending its participants for their commitment to public service; and for2 other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program brought together stude nts of various ages,4 including both college and high school participants, to gain fi rsthand experience in the5 legislative process at the Georgia State Capitol; and6 WHEREAS, the program was designed and led by Melanie Jacobson, Chief of Staff to State7 Representatives Karen Lupton, Shea Roberts, and Marvin Lim, in partnership with the8 offices of these legislators to provide students with meaningfu l exposure to governance,9 public policy, and civic leadership; and10 WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program provided participants with firsthand11 experience in the legislative process, including how bills move through committees, hearings,12 and votes within the Georgia General Assembly; and13 H. R. 1847 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4034 WHEREAS, participants engaged in hands-on activities such as at tending committee14 meetings, conducting policy research, taking legislative notes, assisting with constituent15 services, and observing the daily work of state representatives; and16 WHEREAS, participants developed practical skills including legi slative analysis,17 communication with constituents, social media outreach, event planning, and professional18 collaboration in a fast-paced government environment; and19 WHEREAS, the program encouraged participants to engage directly w i t h p r i m a r y20 government sources such as legislative texts, committee proceedings, and official materials,21 strengthening their ability to critically analyze policy and public information; and22 WHEREAS, participants gained a deeper understanding of civic en gagement, inclusive23 participation in democracy, and the responsibility of informed leadership within their24 communities; and25 WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program represents an importan t step for many26 participants as they begin their journeys into governance, publ ic service, and community27 leadership; and28 WHEREAS, the following students participated in the Leadership Training Program and29 demonstrated exceptional commitment to learning about public service and civic leadership:30 Alyssa Storey, Annie Hodlick, Lily Seidel, Misty Ly, Soluchi Ez anagu, Walker Rott, Siqi31 Bai, Jordan Lee-Barber, Charelle Garrell, Lia Lyles, Siri Muppi di, Aiden Yang, Sydney32 Martin, Lily Otting, Pranavi Saguturu, Lydia Park, Mina Cho, Ar ya Miller, and Ishanyi33 Pantapati.34 H. R. 1847 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4034 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that35 the members of this body recognize the immense impact of the Leadership Training Program,36 commend its participants for their dedication to civic engageme nt and public service, and37 extend best wishes for success as they continue to apply the kn owledge, skills, and38 perspectives gained through the program.39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized40 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the41 public and the press.42 H.
