26 LC 112 3988 Senate Resolution 1017 By: Senators Harbison of the 15th, Rhett of the 33rd, Parent of the 44th, Orrock of the 36th, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing April 11-17, 2026, as the Week of the Young Child; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the early years of a child's life represent a critical period of rapid brain2 development that lays the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and success; and3 WHEREAS, the Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration r ecognizing the4 importance of early learning, young children, their families, and the educators who support5 their growth and development; and6 WHEREAS, young children learn best through hands-on experiences, positive relationships,7 and supportive environments that nurture their cognitive, socia l-emotional, physical,8 language, and literacy development; and9 WHEREAS, high-quality early childhood programs provide essentia l support to working10 families while strengthening communities and contributing to the economic vitality of the11 State of Georgia; and12 WHEREAS, early childhood educators play a vital role in providi ng nurturing care and13 meaningful learning experiences that prepare children for success in school and in life; and14 S. R. 1017 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3988 WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the State of Georgia to recognize and support the15 importance of high-quality early childhood education and the pr ofessionals who provide16 these critical services.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 recognize April 11-17, 2026, as the Week of the Young Child and commend the educators,19 families, and organizations across Georgia who work to ensure that all young children have20 access to high-quality early learning opportunities.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage citizens,22 communities, and policymakers throughout the State of Georgia to recognize the importance23 of early childhood education and to support efforts that strengthen programs and services that24 benefit young children and their families.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the27 press.28 S.
