26 LC 129 1472 House Resolution 1852 By: Representative Gunter of the 8th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of John Alan Dickerson, Sr.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of John Alan Dickerson, Sr., on December 27, 2025; and3 WHEREAS, John Alan Dickerson, Sr., was born on August 23, 1946, in Anderson, South4 Carolina, a beloved son of Fay and Laura Elizabeth McCurley Dickerson; and5 WHEREAS, he graduated from Hart County High School in 1964 and went on to attend6 Clemson University where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1968; and 7 WHEREAS, while at Clemson John served as President of the Blue Key National Honor8 Society, President of the Clemson University Student Senate, Vi ce president of the social9 fraternity Kappa Delta Chi, and was inducted into Tiger Brotherhood; and10 WHEREAS, John was a true master of the law and enjoyed an extra ordinary legal career,11 receiving numerous statewide and local honors, including the Ch ief Justice Thomas O.12 Marshall Professionalism Award and the Tradition of Excellence Award from the State Bar13 of Georgia; and 14 H. R. 1852 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1472 WHEREAS, he also received the Distinguished Citizen Award presented by the Northeast15 Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was honored as the Outstanding Young16 Man of Toccoa and Stephens County; and17 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife of 56 y ears, Paula, and was18 blessed with four remarkable children and seven wonderful grandchildren; and19 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern20 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his21 family and friends were admired by others; and22 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he24 made this world a better place in which to live; and25 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, John will long be remembered for his love26 of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of27 knowing him.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of John Alan Dickerson, Sr.,30 and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the33 family of John Alan Dickerson, Sr.34 H.
