26 LC 112 4032 House Resolution 1882 By: Representatives Ali of the 106th, Clark of the 108th, Au of the 50th, Romman of the 97th, and Tran of the 80th A RESOLUTION Commending and celebrating the observance of Diwali and its cul tural, spiritual, and1 community significance; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one o f the most widely3 celebrated festivals in the world, observed by millions of peop le across diverse faiths4 including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists; and5 WHEREAS, Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over6 ignorance, and good over evil, values that resonate universally and reflect the highest ideals7 of humanity; and8 WHEREAS, families and communities celebrate Diwali by lighting lamps, sharing meals,9 exchanging gifts, and coming together in a spirit of unity, generosity, and hope; and10 WHEREAS, the observance of Diwali contributes to the rich cultural diversity of the State11 of Georgia, fostering greater understanding, respect, and appreciation among all residents;12 and13 H. R. 1882 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4032 WHEREAS, the South Asian and broader communities celebrating Di wali have made14 significant contributions to the economic, cultural, and civic life of this state and nation; and15 WHEREAS, recognizing cultural and religious observances such as Diwali strengthens the16 bonds of inclusion and reflects our commitment to honoring the diverse traditions of all17 people.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body commend and celebrate the observance of Diwali and extend their20 warmest wishes to all those celebrating this joyous occasion.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the23 public and the press.24 H.
