Senate Resolution 1021

A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Jason Hughes; and3
WHEREAS, Jason Hughes was known as a devoted husband, dedicated father, and a4
passionate teacher, mentor, and coach who was loved and respected by the students and staff5
of North Hall High School, where he taught mathematics and coached golf; and6
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Laura, and was blessed with two7
exceptional sons; and8
WHEREAS, Jason Hughes gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and9
deep Christian faith, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his10
family and friends were admired by others; and11
WHEREAS, in a message to the community, the Hughes family expressed gratitude for the12
outpouring of prayers and support and asked that continued pray ers be offered for their13

family and for the students involved in the accident and their families, while also14
encouraging all to extend grace and mercy to them as Christ has done for us; and15
WHEREAS, colleagues, students, and friends remember Jason Hughe s for his warm16
personality, genuine kindness, and welcoming spirit, noting that whenever someone needed17
help he was always willing to talk, always wearing a friendly smile and making others feel18
valued and encouraged; and19
WHEREAS, Jason Hughes will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and20
community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22
join in honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes and expres s their deepest and most23
sincere regret at his passing.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Jason26
Hughes.27
