26 LC 112 3984 House Resolution 1850 By: Representatives Gilliard of the 162nd, Reese of the 140th, Holly of the 116th, Adeyina of the 110th, McClain of the 109th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending Marcus Arbery Sr., author of Where's Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Marcus Arbery Sr. has dedicated innumerable hours of h is time and energy3 toward the national fight for justice, upholding the legacy of his son, Ahmaud Arbery, and4 encouraging communities across the United States to work toward unity; and5 WHEREAS, in the six years since his son was murdered while jogg ing near Brunswick,6 Georgia, Marcus Arbery Sr. has become a prominent voice calling for accountability, racial7 justice, and community healing; and8 WHEREAS, in his new book, Where's Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story, he honors the life9 and memory of Ahmaud and speaks directly to hurting fathers and families, reminding us of10 the faith and sacrifice inherent to parenthood; and11 WHEREAS, the book further demonstrates the love, strength, and responsibility that a father12 carries for his children as well as challenges the current perception of men and Black fathers;13 and14 H. R. 1850 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3984 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Marcus Arbery Sr. be appropriately15 honored by this body.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17 the members of this body commend Marcus Arbery Sr. upon the release of his book, Where's18 Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story, and extend best wishes for future success.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to21 Marcus Arbery Sr.22 H.
