26 LC 129 1413 House Resolution 1849 By: Representative Gilliard of the 162nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team, is a nonprofit3 organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, that aims to provide a competitive program that helps4 woman-athletes over 50 compete on a national level while mainta ining physical, mental,5 ethical, and social well-being; and6 WHEREAS, the Atlanta Lady Hawks are comprised of three teams, aged 50-54, 55-59, and7 60-64 years old, and are currently preparing for the 2027 Senior Basketball Olympics; and8 WHEREAS, in 2025, at the National Senior Games, held in Des Moi nes, Iowa, the 50-549 team won the gold medal in their division, the 55-59 team won 6th place, and the 60-64 team10 won 4th out of 29 teams; and11 WHEREAS, in 2024, the Atlanta Lady Hawks won gold medals at the Crescent Court12 Classic Senior Women's Basketball Tournament at Tulane Universi ty, the South Carolina13 Sports Classic State Games, and the Florida Senior Games; and14 H. R. 1849 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1413 WHEREAS, among many other achievements, the Atlanta Lady Hawks 55-59 team won the15 2022 Georgia Golden Olympics and 2022 Florida Senior Games, eme rging undefeated in16 their tournaments; and 17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the athle tic determination and18 unwavering commitment of the members and coaches of the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior19 women's basketball team.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and commend the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's22 basketball team and extend their sincere best wishes for their continued success at the 202723 Senior Basketball Olympics. 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team.27 H.
