A RESOLUTION
Commending DJ Plugg for his influential contributions to Atlanta's musical culture and the1
evolution of modern hip-hop; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the City of Atlanta has long been recognized as one of the world's leading3
centers of musical innovation, producing generations of artists, producers, DJs, and cultural4
pioneers whose creativity has shaped the global sound of hip-hop and popular music; and5
WHEREAS, Atlanta's Westside communities have played a particularly important role in the6
development of trap music, a genre born from the lived experien ces, resilience, and7
entrepreneurial spirit of local communities that has grown into a global cultural movement;8
and9
WHEREAS, Atlanta's trap music movement has been shaped by a gen eration of10
groundbreaking artists and innovators whose creativity has elevated the city's sound to global11
prominence, including influential figures such as Gucci Mane, Rocko, J. Money, T-Hood,12
Future, Rich Homie Quan, Lil Baby, the internationally recogniz ed group Migos, and13
influential Southern artists such as Young Dolph, whose work ha s helped define the trap14
music genre and establish Atlanta as a global center of hip-hop innovation; and15

WHEREAS, Atlanta's internet-era hip-hop culture was also shaped by influential groups such16
as Rich Kidz, whose music helped define the city's youth culture and digital rap movement17
and helped cultivate the creative environment from which produc ers such as DJ Plugg18
emerged; and19
WHEREAS, DJ Plugg, born Kenneth Smith, is a proud product of Atlanta's Westside and an20
alumnus of Frederick Douglass High School, an institution known for cultivating generations21
of leaders, athletes, artists, and innovators who have made lasting contributions to the city22
of Atlanta and beyond; and23
WHEREAS, emerging during the early SoundCloud era, DJ Plugg established himself as a24
producer, songwriter, and recording artist whose distinctive mi nimalist and bass-driven25
production style helped define a new wave of modern hip-hop and influenced a generation26
of artists and producers; and27
WHEREAS, his production work with artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, including notable records28
such as For Real and 200 My Dash, as well as contributions to Luv Is Rage 1.5, helped shape29
the early success of one of hip-hop's most recognizable artists and demonstrated DJ Plugg's30
creative impact on the evolving sound of the genre; and31
WHEREAS, DJ Plugg has also cultivated an extensive independent catalog of music,32
releasing projects including Sauce God (2015), Get Plugged In (2019), The Loaded Plugg33
(2019), Panther X (2019), Bird Flu (2020), Pardon My Back (2023), and PRAYERS (2024),34
reflecting artistic independence, cultural influence, and sustained creative output; and35
WHEREAS, events such as Trap Day and related cultural celebrati ons recognize the36
importance of Atlanta's musical innovators whose artistry has s haped cultural identity,37

community pride, and economic opportunity throughout the State of Georgia and helped38
establish trap music as one of the most influential cultural exports of Atlanta and the State39
of Georgia.40
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that41
the members of this body commend DJ Plugg for his outstanding contributions to Atlanta's42
musical culture as well as his lasting influence on the global evolution of modern hip-hop.43
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized44
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to DJ45
Plugg.46
