A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Akbar Muhammad; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Akbar Muhammad is a dedicated and passionate historian and consultant on2
international affairs in Africa and the Middle East; and3
WHEREAS, Dr. Muhammad dedicates his time speaking and encouraging others to travel,4
work, and do business in Africa; and5
WHEREAS, he is the founder of Youth4Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization based6
on the belief that young Blacks in the diaspora are due a personal journey “back to africa”7
to gain a historical perspective that reconnects lost cultural traditions of the past to present8
life choices; and 9
WHEREAS, over the years he has accompanied and arranged travel to Africa for over 3,60010
experienced and first time travelers including notable celebrities, major sports figures, and11
influential civic and business leaders; and12

WHEREAS, he has traveled to and met top diplomatic officials to over 144 countries around13
the world, including 44 African nations, and has lived in Ghana, Africa, for over a decade;14
and15
WHEREAS, through the Africa and Middle East Literacy Foundation , he continues to16
consult with African and World leaders to promote humanitarian efforts in many parts of the17
world, including galvanizing business and political leaders fro m the diaspora to work in18
Africa and other developing nations; and19
WHEREAS, in 2007 he organized a historic trip for a press delegation to travel to Sudan for20
a visit to Darfur on a fact-finding mission, and through his ef forts secured exclusive21
one-on-one interviews with Sudan’s President Omar El-Bashir for Black Entertainment22
Television (BET) and the TV-One Network; and23
WHEREAS, Dr. Muhammad’s extensive work and travel in Africa are reflected in his24
column “Africa and the World” which is published in African-Ame rican newspapers25
nationally; and26
WHEREAS, his many good deeds were recognized when he was awarde d an Honorary27
Doctorate Degree from the Global Evangelical Christian Seminary at the University of28
Alabama; and29
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the outstanding achievements of this30
distinguished individual.31

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32
the members of this body recognize and commend Akbar Muhammad a nd extend their33
sincere best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success.34
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized35
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Akbar36
Muhammad.37
