26 LC 47 4299 House Resolution 1890 By: Representative Taylor of the 92nd A RESOLUTION Urging the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners to exercise the power given to them1 under current law and appoint members to the vacant seats on the Rockdale County Water2 and Sewerage Authority, including any seats held by holdover me mbers; and for other3 purposes.4 WHEREAS, an Act to create the Rockdale County Water and Sewerage Authority (Ga. L.5 1995, p. 3994) provides that such authority shall be governed by a seven member board to6 be appointed by the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners; and7 WHEREAS, for a number of years the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners has failed8 to appoint members to the Rockdale County Water and Sewerage Au thority following the9 expiration of the terms of prior authority members; and10 WHEREAS, the failure to appoint new members has left some of the authority's seats vacant11 and left other seats occupied by holdover members for years beyond the expiration of their12 original terms; and13 H. R. 1890 - 1 - 26 LC 47 4299 WHEREAS, the Rockdale County Board of Commissioner's failure to keep the authority's14 board filled with current appointees has created great confusion and potential legal liability15 for the authority and the county; and16 WHEREAS, the citizens of Rockdale County deserve to be fully re presented by current17 appointees to the Rockdale County Water and Sewerage Authority's board.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body urge the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners to exercise the20 power given to them under current law and appoint members to th e vacant seats on the21 Rockdale County Water and Sewerage Authority, including any sea ts held by holdover22 members.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the25 Rockdale County Board of Commissioners.26 H.
