26 LC 112 4078 Senate Resolution 1028 By: Senators James of the 28th, Mangham of the 55th, Howard of the 35th, Davenport of the 17th, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Georgia Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association upon1 its ninth annual GWIAA Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA) stands as the3 singular advocate for securing congressional funding dedicated to the well-being of women4 and children in the field of agriculture; and5 WHEREAS, established in 2008 by Dr. Tammy Steele of Oklahoma Ci ty, Oklahoma,6 NWIAA has grown into the largest women-owned, women-led agriculture organization; and7 WHEREAS, the Georgia Chapter (GWIAA) of the NWIAA is currently led by Noreen S.8 Whitehead, who has greatly furthered the chapter's commitment t o the advancement and9 inclusion of women and children in agriculture; and10 WHEREAS, as testament to its mission, the GWIAA successfully secured funding in 202111 through the USDA NIFA Funded Beg inning Farmers Grant Program, a nd it has since12 activated 30 beginning farm producers across 18 counties in the state; and13 S. R. 1028 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4078 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing organization be14 appropriately honored during this special time.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body16 commend the Georgia Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association upon its17 ninth annual GWIAA Day at the state capitol for its many remarkable contributions on behalf18 of the women and children of the State of Georgia as well as ex tend best wishes for19 continued success.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia22 Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association.23 S.
