SR1025: SR1025 Gable, Phillip Cortez; condolences

26 LC 112 4013 Senate Resolution 1025 By: Senators Harbin of the 16th, Dickerson of the 21st, Albers of the 56th, McNeel of the 18th, Walker III of the 20th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Phillip Cortez Gable; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Phillip Cortez Gable, affectionately known as "Corkey," a devoted family3 man, respected professional, and proud patriot; and4 WHEREAS, Phillip Cortez Gable was born on March 13, 1948, in Braselton, Georgia, and5 he passed away on March 9, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia; and6 WHEREAS, he honorably served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971, faithfully7 answering the call to serve his country; and8 WHEREAS, he enjoyed a distinguished career as Vice President at the Bank of Ozarks,9 earning the respect of colleagues through his leadership, integ rity, and commitment to10 excellence; and11 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nell Gable; his sister,12 Ann Teague; his brother, Sidney Gable; and his grandson, Josh Barrow; and13 S. R. 1025 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4013 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Gable; his children, Donna (John)14 Nichol, Cheyne (Renee) Gable, Mike (LeAnn) Gable, and Dawn (Ant onio) Ojeda; eight15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with another expected; his sister, Nita (Richard)16 Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews; and17 WHEREAS, Phillip Cortez Gable leaves a lasting legacy of servic e, devotion, and18 faithfulness that has enriched his family, community, and the State of Georgia.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 join in honoring the life and memory of Phillip Cortez Gable and express their deepest and21 most sincere regret at his passing.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of24 Phillip Cortez Gable.25 S.
