26 LC 112 4037 Senate Resolution 1047 By: Senators Orrock of the 36th, Parent of the 44th, James of the 28th, Harbison of the 15th, Kemp of the 38th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the City of Hapeville; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is a historic and vibrant small city located just south of2 downtown Atlanta and adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int ernational Airport, the3 world's busiest airport, and it is home to approximately 6,500 residents; and4 WHEREAS, founded in the late 19th century as a railroad and industrial hub, Hapeville has5 deep roots in transportation and manufacturing that played a significant role in shaping the6 economic growth of the Atlanta region and the State of Georgia; and7 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville was once home to the Ford Motor Company Assembly8 Plant, a landmark of Georgia's industrial history, which has been thoughtfully re-imagined9 as the Porsche Cars North America Headquarters, symbolizing the city's ability to honor its10 past while embracing innovation and global economic leadership; and11 WHEREAS, over time, Hapeville has evolved into a thriving cente r for arts, culture, and12 creative place-making while preserving the close-knit character and civic pride of a13 hometown community; and14 S. R. 1047 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4037 WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is widely recognized for its walkable downtown, historic15 neighborhoods, and its support of one of the most robust public art initiatives of any small16 city in the nation, with murals, sculptures, and artistic insta llations woven throughout the17 community to reflect its unique identity and shared sense of place; and18 WHEREAS, Hapeville regularly hosts festivals, concerts, and cul tural events that bring19 residents and visitors together and exemplify the city's spirit of engagement, collaboration,20 and connection; and21 WHEREAS, as part of the Atlanta Aerotropolis, the City of Hapeville is uniquely positioned22 at the intersection of history and growth, leveraging its strategic location while investing in23 forward-looking initiatives that enhance economic opportunity, community vitality, and24 quality of life for its residents; and25 WHEREAS, the citizens and leadership of the City of Hapeville continue to demonstrate a26 strong commitment to civic engagement, cultural enrichment, and responsible growth that27 contributes to the overall strength of the State of Georgia.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 recognize and commend the City of Hapeville for its historical significance, cultural30 leadership, and continued contributions to the State of Georgia.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Mayor and City33 Council of the City of Hapeville.34 S.
