SR1024: SR1024 Clinch County Boys Basketball Team; congratulate

26 LC 112 4046 Senate Resolution 1024 By: Senators Goodman of the 8th, Hodges of the 3rd, Watson of the 11th, Summers of the 13th and Hickman of the 4th A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Clinch County boys basketball team for winning the 2025-2026 GHSA1 1A Division 2 Boys State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Clinch County boys basketball team has established and maintained a proud3 tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and 4 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team5 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable6 2026 campaign, the team captured first state championship in 37 years; and7 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding8 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the9 team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astut e direction of longtime head10 coach Terrence George and assistant coach David Carroll; and11 WHEREAS, this all-star team was led by strong performances from Traviian Miller,12 Kamarion Johnson, AJ Barr, Kareem Reeves, Kyiis Mingo, Demarco Simon, JaKyri Posely,13 Fred Causey, Jeremiah White, Shane Burns, Tykeem Carter, Jarvis Henderson, and Jernon14 Gaines; and15 S. R. 1024 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4046 WHEREAS, the team achieved an outstanding 29-3 record, marking the most wins in a16 single season in school history; scored a total of 2,124 points during the season for an17 average of 66 points per game; and recorded an extraordinary si ngle-game high of 10618 points; and19 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by20 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is21 abundantly proper to call them champions.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23 congratulate the Clinch County boys basketball team for winning the 2025-2026 GHSA 1A24 Division 2 Boys State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for their continued25 success.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Clinch County28 boys basketball team.29 S.
