A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and legacy of Mary Ann Harrison; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the citizens of Clayton County and the State of Georgia join family and friends2
in celebrating the life of Mary Ann Harrison, affectionately known as "Ann," who departed3
this life on May 24, 2006, after a life filled with faith, love, and service; and4
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Harrison was born on November 22, 1950, in Ga dsden County,5
Florida, the beloved daughter of Ella Mae Harrison-Mickens and the granddaughter of John6
and Goldie Harrison, all of whom preceded her in death; and7
WHEREAS, she was a proud graduate of Northside High School in H avana, Florida, and8
from an early age demonstrated a deep and abiding faith in God; and9
WHEREAS, she accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of New10
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Chur ch, later continu ing her spiri tual journey at Hopewell11
African Methodist Episcopal Church; and12

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Harrison lived her life guided by her unwavering faith, trusting in13
God's will and encouraging others to do the same, leaving behin d a legacy of strength,14
perseverance, and spiritual devotion; and15
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, having fulfilled her promise to "hold out to the16
end," she peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a testimony of grace, endurance, and17
faith; and18
WHEREAS, she was a loving and devoted family member who leaves to cherish her memory19
a host of loved ones, including a very devoted aunt, Lelia Harrison; a cousin she adopted as20
a son, Robert Lee Dudley; two sisters, Mary Alice Bryant and Ma mie Joy; as well as21
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; and22
WHEREAS, her life was a shining example of love, compassion, and faith, and her presence23
will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25
the members of this body honor and celebrate the life of Mary Ann Harrison, recognizing her26
enduring legacy of faith, family, and service, and extend their deepest sympathy to her family27
and loved ones28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the30
family of Mary Ann Harrison.31
