26 LC 129 1481 Senate Resolution 1050 By: Senators Anderson of the 24th, Hatchett of the 50th, Hufstetler of the 52nd, Tillery of the 19th, Cowsert of the 46th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Lee Vaughn; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Lee Vaughn has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital2 role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the3 citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, Lee was elected Commissioner of District Two on January 1, 2015, and went5 on the be elected Chairman of Commissioners in 2019, a position he held until his retirement;6 and7 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,8 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state; and9 WHEREAS, Lee's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and10 diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have11 earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and12 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high13 ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom14 S. R. 1050 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1481 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved15 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and16 WHEREAS, in addition to his role with District Two, Lee currently serves as the President17 of Northeast Georgia Bank and is involved in the Community Ban kers Association, the18 Georgia Bankers Association, the Hartwell Rotary Club, Athens T echnical College19 Foundation Board of Directors, and the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of20 Directors; and 21 WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for22 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and23 WHEREAS, Lee has served with honor and distinction with District Two, and his vision and24 unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his; and25 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this26 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend Lee Vaughn for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated29 public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him upon t he grand occasion of his30 retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Lee Vaughn.33 S.
