26 LC 112 4045 Senate Resolution 1030 By: Senators Harbison of the 15th, Orrock of the 36th, Lucas of the 26th, Davenport of the 17th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the distinguished service and outstanding contributions of Senator Emanuel Jones;1 and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Senator Emanuel Jones, a dedicated public servant and respected business3 leader, has faithfully represented the citizens of Georgia's 10 th Senate District since his4 election in 2004, serving the communities of Southwest DeKalb a nd Henry County with5 integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment; and6 WHEREAS, throughout his tenure in the Georgia State Senate, he has provided exemplary7 leadership as Secretary of the Senate Committees on Economic Development and Tourism8 and Interstate Cooperation, and he has further contributed his expertise as a member of the9 Committees on Appropriations, Banking and Financial Institutions, Natural Resources and10 the Environment, and Urban Affairs; and11 WHEREAS, his professional journey is marked by excellence and discipline, having earned12 a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a13 Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University,14 and having honorably served his country as a commissioned offic er in the United States15 Army Corps of Engineers, attaining the rank of Captain; and16 S. R. 1030 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4045 WHEREAS, prior to his success in the automotive industry, he held professional positions17 with IBM and Arthur Andersen & Co., demonstrating a strong foun dation in business and18 leadership; and19 WHEREAS, Senator Jones has been the recipient of numerous prest igious honors and20 recognitions, including being named one of Atlanta Tribune magazine's Men of Distinction,21 receiving the Global Peace Festival Award in Malaysia, the Blac k Enterprise Top 5022 Minority-Owned Companies Award, the United States Department of Commerce Minority23 Service Firm of the Year Award, and the Atlanta Business League 's 50th Most Influential24 Award, and being nominated for the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award by Andrew25 Young; and26 WHEREAS, his commitment to community service is equally noteworthy, having served in27 leadership roles with Henry Medical Center, the Henry County YM CA, the United Way28 Campaign, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, and numerous educational and civic29 organizations, as well as maintaining active involvement with institutions such as Georgia30 State University and the University of Pennsylvania; and31 WHEREAS, a man of strong character and purpose, Senator Jones is also a proud member32 of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., reflecting his lifelong dedication to service, leadership,33 and community uplift; and34 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is indeed fortunate to have benef itted from the tireless35 service, visionary leadership, and steadfast dedication of such an outstanding individual. 36 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body37 recognize and commend Senator Emanuel Jones for his many years of faithful and38 S. R. 1030 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4045 distinguished service to the State of Georgia and extend to him their deepest appreciation for39 his leadership, integrity, and enduring contributions to the citizens of this state.40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed41 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Senator Emanuel42 Jones.43 S.
