A RESOLUTION
Designating April as National Black Women's History Month; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, National Black Women's History Month is a time to hono r the rich heritage,2
resilience, and achievements of Black Women who have positively shaped the United States;3
and4
WHEREAS, Black Women have played a pivotal role in advancing re silience,5
empowerment, and faith; and6
WHEREAS, the month of April will specifically highlight the exp eriences, achievements,7
and unique contributions of Black Women throughout history; and8
WHEREAS, National Black Women's History Month is designed to un ify the community9
by promoting visibility, education, empowerment, contribution, and achievement, all of10
which positively impact communities across the globe; and11
WHEREAS, the theme for the 2026 celebration of National Black Women's History Month12
is "Black Women: Sharing our Stories, Honoring Our Legacies" wh ich conveys13

empowerment through storytelling, preservation of history and c ulture, celebration of14
resilience, strength, and influence; and15
WHEREAS, by recognizing and respecting the impact Black Women h ave made across16
generations culturally, socially, politically, and personally, this month will acknowledge how17
those women shaped the present. 18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19
the members of this body recognize April as National Black Women's History Month.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22
public and the press.23
