26 LC 129 1474 House Resolution 1907 By: Representative Ridley of the 6th A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team for winning1 the 2026 GHSA Class AA State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team has established3 and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal empha ses on character and4 academics; and5 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball6 competition by posting an outstanding record of 27 wins and only four losses; and7 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team8 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable9 2026 campaign, the team captured its first state basketball championship title in 61 years; and10 WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school by winning the 2026 GHSA11 AA State Basketball Championship against a formidable opponent with a final score of 5112 to 48; and13 H. R. 1907 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1474 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding14 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the15 team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Chris16 Tipton; and17 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by18 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is19 abundantly proper to call them champions.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body congratulate the Murray County High Sc hool Girls Varsity22 basketball team for winning the 2026 GHSA Class AA State Basketball Championship and23 extend best wishes for their continued success.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team.27 H.
