26 LC 112 3991 House Resolution 1952 By: Representatives Cannon of the 58th, Taylor of the 92nd, Schofield of the 63rd, McQueen of the 61st, and Miller of the 62nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Center for Black Women's Wellnes s; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, over the past 36 years, the Center for Black Women's W ellness has served3 women, men, and children throughout metropolitan Atlanta through a host of programs and4 services aimed at optimizing health, strengthening families and communities, and advancing5 health equity; and6 WHEREAS, the Center for Black Women's Wellness was initially established in 1988 as a7 program under the National Black Women's Health Project with the purpose of conducting8 self-help group development in public housing and developing resiliency among low-income9 women; and10 WHEREAS, in 1996, the center incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization, and11 it has since worked to provide individuals in need with the physical, mental, emotional, and12 financial support necessary to live full and productive lives; and13 H. R. 1952 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3991 WHEREAS, the exceptional staff, volunteers, and partners of the Center for Black Women's14 Wellness dedicate innumerable hours of their time and energy toward upholding the center's15 mission and supporting communities throughout metro Atlanta; and16 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplar y organization be17 appropriately honored during this special time.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body recognize and commend the Center for Black Women's Wellness20 for its many outstanding contributions and years of service on behalf of the citizens of this21 state as well as extend best wishes for continued success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the24 Center for Black Women's Wellness.25 H.
