A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mrs. Arlecia Battle; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Mrs. Arlecia Battle has rendered 23 years of dedicated and exemplary service2
to Clayton County Public Schools, most recently serving as exec utive assistant to3
Superintendent Anthony W. Smith; and4
WHEREAS, throughout her distinguished career, Mrs. Battle has served with excellence in5
a variety of roles, including volunteer, secretary, administrative assistant, support specialist,6
and executive assistant; and7
WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle began her journey as a volunteer at North Clayton High School,8
where her commitment and professionalism were recognized by Pri ncipal Clarence9
Burnough, who encouraged her to pursue a career with the district; and10
WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle achieved a historic milestone as the first Black female to serve as11
an assistant to the superintendent, demonstrating both her leadership and her perseverance;12
and13

WHEREAS, she played an integral role in supporting key district initiatives, including14
graduation ceremonies, and witnessed the continued growth and i ncreasing diversity of15
Clayton County Public Schools; and16
WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding service and commitment to excellence, Mrs.17
Battle was named Employee of the Year in 2013; and18
WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle has demonstrated extraordinary resilience throughout her life and19
career, overcoming personal and professional challenges, includ ing experiences of unfair20
treatment and a courageous battle with cancer, while maintainin g unwavering21
professionalism and grace; and22
WHEREAS, she has been a devoted wife to her husband, Ronald, fo r 46 years; a proud23
mother of two sons, who are graduates of Clayton County Public Schools; and a loving24
grandmother, a role she considers among her greatest blessings; and25
WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle has remained grounded in her faith and looks forward to continuing26
her service through her church and spending cherished time with her granddaughter in27
retirement; and28
WHEREAS, her legacy is one of faithful service, quiet strength, historic achievement, and29
lasting impact on all who have had the privilege of working alongside her.30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31
the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Arlecia Bat tle for her 23 years of32
outstanding service to Clayton County Public Schools and extend sincere appreciation and33
best wishes for continued health, happiness, and fulfillment in her retirement.34

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized35
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.36
Arlecia Battle.37
