26 LC 112 4124 Senate Resolution 1060 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Davenport of the 17th, Mallow of the 2nd, Kemp of the 38th, Harbison of the 15th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Salem Bible Church on the occasion of its 135th anniversary;1 and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the seeds which were sown by the loving and humble eff orts of the devoted3 original worshipers of Salem Bible Church have blossomed, establishing a rich tradition and4 history; and5 WHEREAS, founded by a faithful group of believers who first gathered in a small house on6 Hawkins Street in Atlanta, the church established a firm spiritual foundation under its first7 pastor, Rev. G. B. Fanning, and continued to expand under Rev. R. Dorsey, who relocated8 the church to Martin Street; and9 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Rev. C. L. Wilder and Rev. C. S. Jackson, Salem Bible10 Church experienced significant growth in membership, rebuilding its place of worship11 following a devastating fire and constructing a new church to a ccommodate its expanding12 congregation; and13 WHEREAS, since November 1963, Pastor Jasper Williams Jr. has led Salem Bible Church14 through a period of transformative growth, expanding its member ship, establishing a new15 S. R. 1060 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4124 sanctuary on Baker Road, and developing impactful ministries, i ncluding community16 programs, housing initiatives, and additional campuses that have strengthened its presence17 and outreach; and18 WHEREAS, the members of Salem Bible Church have a sincere desire to serve the Lord and19 are wholeheartedly committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ; and20 WHEREAS, the story of Salem Bible Church is one of triumph thro ugh the grace and21 sustaining power of God, and it stands as an immovable witness to the truth that God keeps22 His promise; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message24 of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for its innumerable good works rendered25 on behalf of persons in need.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 recognize the rich history of Salem Bible Church, commend its 1 35 years of dedicated28 service to the Lord and community, and extend their warmest best wishes for its continued29 growth and success.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Salem Bible32 Church.33 S.
