26 LC 112 4119 House Resolution 2006 By: Representatives Camp of the 135th, New of the 40th, Persinger of the 119th, and Horner of the 3rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and honoring Evelyn Wallace Johnson Camp on the occ asion of her 100th1 birthday; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Evelyn Wallace Johnson Camp was born on June 22, 1926, in Chamblee,3 Georgia, to Samuel Dobson Johnson and Maude Gertrude Wallace, and she is the youngest4 of their four children; and5 WHEREAS, she graduated from Chamblee High School as a member of the Class of 1944,6 demonstrating early her commitment to diligence and perseverance; and7 WHEREAS, she married her high school sweetheart, Len Hoshall Ca mp, on October 26,8 1944, at Prospect Methodist Church in Chamblee on the eve of his military service during9 World War II, beginning a remarkable marriage that endured for 76 years; and10 WHEREAS, as a young war bride, she traveled to California durin g World War II,11 embracing new experiences and challenges with resilience and grace; and12 H. R. 2006 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4119 WHEREAS, she is the devoted mother of Mary Lynn Camp Patrick and Mark Paul Camp,13 and she has dedicated her life to building a loving home where family, hospitality, and shared14 meals have always been central; and15 WHEREAS, in addition to her roles as a wife and mother, Mrs. Ca mp contributed16 meaningfully to the workforce, serving with the United States A rmy Corps of Engineers,17 South Atlantic Division, in the Electrical Section as support s taff, working alongside her18 husband in their family business, Kleen Rite Cleaners, and late r retiring from McFadden19 Business Publications; and20 WHEREAS, during her retirement years, she and her husband traveled extensively across the21 United States in their motorhomes, embracing the beauty and diversity of this great nation;22 and23 WHEREAS, in 2000, she and her husband relocated to Fines Creek, North Carolina, where24 they lived for 17 years before returning to Georgia; and25 WHEREAS, she now resides on her family farm in Concord, Georgia, where she enjoys the26 peace and beauty of rural life; and27 WHEREAS, her century of life stands as a testament to faith, fa mily, hard work, and28 unwavering devotion to those she loves.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body recognize and honor Evelyn Wallace Johnson Camp on the joyous31 occasion of her 100th birthday and commend her for a life richl y lived and for the lasting32 legacy she has created for her family and community.33 H.
