26 LC 112 4132 House Resolution 2001 By: Representative Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and legacy of Mother Bernice Brim Powe; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Mother Bernice Brim Powe was a devoted Christian woman and loving mother,2 grandmother, mentor, and friend whose life was a testament to faith, service, and unwavering3 dedication to God; and4 WHEREAS, she was born on May 31, 1934, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Nazareth and5 Annie L. Brim, and was affectionately known as "Baby" by her family and loved ones; and6 WHEREAS, at a young age, Mother Powe accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized7 in the Baptist faith, later receiving the Holy Ghost and answering her divine call to ministry8 while living in Hawaii; and9 WHEREAS, she was licensed as an Evangelist in 1966 through the Church of God in Christ10 and went on to serve faithfully in ministry, including as a Servicemen's Fellowship leader in11 Germany, touching countless lives through her preaching, teaching, and spiritual guidance;12 and13 H. R. 2001 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4132 WHEREAS, in 2009, she was ordained as an Elder and continued to serve with distinction,14 later being confirmed and consecrated as a Prophetess of the Lord on May 20, 2017, at Truth15 Gatherers Dream Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Davis Jr.; and16 WHEREAS, throughout her life, she was actively involved in numerous ministries, including17 University COGIC, Prayer Temple COGIC, Fresh Fire Ministries, and Abundant Life and18 Restoration Ministries, where her love for God and her community was evident in all she did;19 and20 WHEREAS, Mother Powe dedicated her life to mentoring, coaching, and uplifting others21 through prayer, prophetic counsel, and faithful service, leaving a profound and lasting impact22 on women, families, and communities in need of healing and hope; and23 WHEREAS, she was a proud graduate of Leesville High School, earned an associate's degree24 in business from Sabine Valley Technical School, and furthered her education at25 Northwestern State University, later retiring from the Leon Cou nty School System after a26 dedicated career of service; and27 WHEREAS, she was a loving mother to her daughter, Cynthia "Cind y"; a cherished28 mother-in-law; and a devoted grandmother to Joshua and Caleb, who were the joy of her life;29 and30 WHEREAS, her favorite scripture, Psalm 34, guided her life, and her testimony and faith31 inspired all who knew her, as she often declared, "God saved me when she thought she was32 already saved"; and33 H. R. 2001 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4132 WHEREAS, on September 2, 2024, at the age of 90, Mother Bernice Brim Powe entered into34 eternal rest, leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, servic e, and love that will continue35 to inspire generations to come.36 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that37 the members of this body honor the remarkable life and legacy o f Mother Bernice Brim38 Powe and extend their deepest sympathy to her family and all who were blessed to know her.39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized40 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the41 family of Mother Bernice Brim Powe.42 H.
