26 LC 112 4117 House Resolution 1971 By: Representative McQueen of the 61st A RESOLUTION Commending Maya Jones, Sandtown Middle School's 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young3 people, and Maya Jones exemplifies the selfless dedication that is characteristic of our finest4 teachers; and5 WHEREAS, Maya Jones is a highly praised eighth grade interrelated educator at Sandtown6 Middle School who tirelessly directs an extraordinary amount of time and talent toward7 guiding students to a brighter future; and8 WHEREAS, with over a decade of experience, she has dedicated her career to fostering the9 academic success of middle school students across DeKalb County, Atlanta Public Schools,10 and Fulton County Schools; and11 WHEREAS, she further serves her school community as the SEC dep artment chair and12 contributes greatly to the New Teachers Committee and PBIS Committee; and13 H. R. 1971 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4117 WHEREAS, Maya Jones has earned distinction for teaching excelle nce as a result of her14 dedication to her students and her profession and has been hono red as Sandtown Middle15 School's 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year; and16 WHEREAS, in recognition of such remarkable contributions to the education and welfare17 of Georgia's students, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the18 extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding educator.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body commend Maya Jones, Sandtown Middle Sc hool's 2025-202621 Teacher of the Year, and express their most sincere best wishes for continued success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Maya24 Jones.25 H.
