26 LC 129 1450 House Resolution 1963 By: Representatives Lim of the 98th, Lupton of the 83rd, Beckles of the 96th, and Clark of the 108th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Elizabeth Garcia; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Garcia is a proud first-generation college s tudent, undergraduate2 researcher, and dedicated community leader; and3 WHEREAS, a student at Emory University, Elizabeth is one of only two Latina students in4 the Class of 2026 computer science program as well as the First Latina undergraduate5 researcher for the Atlanta Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Network (AIAI Network);6 and7 WHEREAS, as the founder and co-president of the Emory University chapter of ColorStack,8 a nonprofit organization that supports Black and Latinx student s pursuing careers in9 computer science and technology, Elizabeth has tirelessly provi ded community as well as10 academic and professional support and guidance to her peers; and11 WHEREAS, within her community, Elizabeth has worked with Lucky Shoals Community12 Association to help deliver and create bilingual health educati on initiatives and13 neighborhood-centered health programming; and14 H. R. 1963 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1450 WHEREAS, she has also worked with Georgia Representative Marvin Lim to ensure15 community members are aware of available resources as well as v olunteered as a Spanish16 Medical Interpreter at the Good Samaritan Health Center of Atlanta; and17 WHEREAS, following her graduation Elizabeth hopes to pursue a career at the intersection18 of technology, artificial intelligence, digital humanities, and public service, using technology19 and research to support communities and expand access to knowledge and resources.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and commend Elizabeth Garcia and extend their sincere22 best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Elizabeth Garcia.26 H.
