SR1057: SR1057 Glass, Deputy Nicolas; recognize and commend

26 LC 112 4080 Senate Resolution 1057 By: Senators Dickerson of the 21st, Albers of the 56th and Kirkpatrick of the 32nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Deputy Nicolas Glass for his courageous and valiant service1 in the line of duty; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Deputy Nicolas Glass has faithfully served the citizens of Cherokee County as3 a member of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office since May 2022; and4 WHEREAS, in April 2025, Deputy Glass transferred to Uniform Pat rol, and after5 successfully completing the Field Training Program, he was assi gned to the Oak Grove6 Precinct in July 2025, where he has already demonstrated remark able dedication by7 responding to over 1,100 calls for service and serving as the reporting officer on more than8 180 cases and incidents; and9 WHEREAS, on the evening of October 25, 2025, Deputy Glass responded alongside fellow10 deputies to a welfare check involving a missing adult female, demonstrating his commitment11 to protecting the well-being of the citizens he serves; and12 WHEREAS, during the course of that response, Deputy Glass encou ntered a violent and13 life-threatening situation when an armed assailant attacked him with a knife, striking him14 S. R. 1057 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4080 across the face and continuing the assault as Deputy Glass attempted to retreat and defend15 himself; and16 WHEREAS, despite sustaining injuries and facing imminent danger, Deputy Glass exhibited17 extraordinary courage, composure, and presence of mind by defending himself and alerting18 fellow deputies, actions which ultimately contributed to stopping the threat and preventing19 further harm; and20 WHEREAS, subsequent investigation revealed that the incident wa s connected to a tragic21 homicide within the residence, further underscoring the dangerous and unpredictable nature22 of the situation confronted by Deputy Glass; and23 WHEREAS, the actions of Deputy Nicolas Glass reflect great cred it upon himself, the24 Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, and the State of Georgia, serving as a powerful reminder25 of the sacrifices made daily by law enforcement officers to pro tect and serve their26 communities.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend Deputy Nicolas Glass for his courageous and valiant efforts in the29 line of duty and extend their deepest gratitude for his service to the citizens of Cherokee30 County and the State of Georgia.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Deputy Nicolas33 Glass.34 S.
