26 LC 112 4100 House Resolution 1993 By: Representative Powell of the 33rd A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis passed away on J une 13, 2021,3 following a battle with glioblastoma; and4 WHEREAS, he sang with the Atlanta Boys Choir from 1967–1970 and the Men's Alumni5 Choir from 2009–2021; and6 WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis was the founding bishop of the7 Universal Orthodox Diocese of Georgia, which combined elements of Ethiopian Coptic,8 Episcopalian, and Swedenborgian traditions; and9 WHEREAS, he was ordained and focused his ministry on providing medicinal, therapeutic,10 and spiritual uses of cannabis; and11 WHEREAS, for roughly eight years prior to his death, he was a p rominent lobbyist12 advocating for patients right to experience the spiritual heali ng KNH provides through a13 sacred anointing oil; and14 H. R. 1993 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4100 WHEREAS, during his tenure lobbying at the Georgia State Capitol, he was referred to by15 some beloved legislators as "The Mad Monk"; and16 WHEREAS, Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis will long be remembered for his faith,17 leadership, community dedication, and, more importantly, his advocacy for medical cannabis18 to give relief to those who are suffering.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory o f Mr. Right Reverend21 Gregory Karl Davis and express their deepest and most since regret at his passing.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the24 family of Mr. Right Reverend Gregory Karl Davis.25 H.
