26 LC 112 4055 House Resolution 1956 By: Representatives Park of the 107th, Ali of the 106th, Miller of the 62nd, Cannon of the 58th, Willis of the 55th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Scattering Resources, Incorporated, and its Founder and Chief1 Executive Officer, Tamara L. Moore, for 16 years of extraordina ry dedication to the2 homeless and disadvantaged communities of Atlanta, Georgia, and beyond; and for other3 purposes.4 WHEREAS, Scattering Resources, Incorporated, was founded in 2009 in the metro Atlanta5 area by Tamara L. Moore, whose vision and compassion gave rise to an organization that has6 spent 16 years championing the dignity and self-sufficiency of those living without basic7 necessities; and8 WHEREAS, the mission of Scattering Resources is to help those w ithout the basic9 necessities to live with dignity in the United States and Haiti , guided by the principle set10 forth in Proverbs 11:24: "There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more"; and11 WHEREAS, the organization's vision is to provide information an d resources to12 disadvantaged individuals to enable them to reach their goals, believing that the transition13 from poverty comes through education, adequate health care, and access to employment,14 training opportunities, and counseling; and15 H. R. 1956 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4055 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Founder and Chief Executive Officer Tamara L. Moore,16 alongside Chief Operating Officer Jerome Moore, Board Secretary Ebony Lewis,17 Community Liaison Monique Gray, and dedicated board members, Scattering Resources has18 built a team committed to equipping communities to overcome poverty; and19 WHEREAS, from 2009 to 2014, Scattering Resources launched an annual Back to School20 drive to equip students with essential supplies, partnered with LA Fashion Corner to organize21 a Charity Fashion Show benefiting relief efforts in Haiti, inau gurated its Community22 Services program featuring sorting and distribution days and the assembly of hygiene kits,23 hosted a Scattering Resources Night with the Atlanta Hawks, and organized a Gather to Give24 Fundraiser at the Commerce Club to raise awareness and funds for those in need; and25 WHEREAS, from 2014 to 2019, Scattering Resources hosted annual Christmas Tea26 Fundraisers featuring silent auctions, spoken word, and communi ty fellowship; partnered27 with organizations to establish an annual Hygiene Kit Drive for underserved communities;28 contributed hygiene products to communities affected by Hurricane Maria; and implemented29 financial literacy and career skills workshops to provide pathways toward independence; and30 WHEREAS, in recent years, Scattering Resources presented at a V irtual Community31 Outreach and Health Fair addressing financial health and wellbe ing, collaborated with the32 Haitian orphanage Le Paradis Des Enfants to provide hygiene products and school supplies,33 and donated 342 acute care and surgical supplies to the Celena Clouden Hospital in St.34 Vincent and the Grenadines; and35 WHEREAS, in partnership with Officer Brooks of the DeKalb County Police Community36 Policing Unit, Scattering Resources distributed personal hygiene kits to homeless individuals,37 H. R. 1956 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4055 including veterans and non-veterans, residing in wooded areas of metro Atlanta, extending38 compassion and dignity to Georgia's most vulnerable; and39 WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Scattering Resources gathered and contributed40 critical medical supplies and personal protective equipment to Northside Hospital, ensuring41 healthcare professionals had the resources needed to protect lives on the front lines; and42 WHEREAS, Scattering Resources has organized its annual Women's Empowerment43 Conference and Luncheon, dedicated to celebrating and uplifting women and providing a44 networking platform for empowerment, opportunity exploration, and inspiration within the45 community; and46 WHEREAS, with a global mindset, Scattering Resources extends it s reach beyond the47 borders of Georgia, hand-delivering urgently needed supplies to families in Haiti, Puerto48 Rico, and beyond, forging strategic collaborations to amplify i ts humanitarian impact49 worldwide; and50 WHEREAS, through volunteer opportunities, community outreach, awareness discussions,51 and resource distribution, Scattering Resources fosters resilience, solidarity, and hope within52 metro Atlanta communities and neighboring Southern states; and53 WHEREAS, as Scattering Resources marks its 16th anniversary, its enduring impact stands54 as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Tamara L. Moore and the entire Scattering55 Resources family to building a more just and compassionate Georgia; and56 WHEREAS, it is both fitting and proper to recognize the transfo rmative contributions of57 Scattering Resources to the cause of alleviating homelessness a nd poverty in Atlanta and58 H. R. 1956 - 3 - 26 LC 112 4055 across Georgia as well as to express the gratitude of this body for work that reflects favorably59 upon our communities and our shared commitment to one another.60 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that61 the members of this body recognize and commend Scattering Resources, Incorporated, and62 its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tamara L. Moore, for 1 6 years of tireless and63 inspired service to the homeless and disadvantaged communities of Atlanta, Georgia, and64 beyond; for their steadfast commitment to human dignity; and for their unwavering belief in65 the potential of every person to achieve independence and self-sufficiency.66 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized67 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Tamara68 L. Moore, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, and to the board , staff, and volunteers of69 Scattering Resources, Incorporated.70 H. R. 1956 - 4 -
