A RESOLUTION
Recognizing June 14, 2026, as Race Amity Day; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Race Amity Day is observed annually on the second Sunday in June, which will2
occur on June 14, 2026, and serves as a time to promote racial harmony, mutual respect, and3
genuine friendship among all people; and4
WHEREAS, the concept of "amity," meaning friendship and goodwill, calls our communities5
to move beyond mere tolerance and toward meaningful relationshi ps that foster unity,6
cooperation, and shared purpose; and7
WHEREAS, Race Amity Day has its historical roots in early 20th- century race amity8
conventions and has been advanced in modern times by efforts such as those of the Bahá'í9
National Spiritual Assembly to address racism and promote the oneness of humanity; and10
WHEREAS, the observance of this day encourages individuals, org anizations, and11
communities to engage in activities that celebrate diversity th rough music, art, dialogue,12
education, and service, strengthening the social fabric of our state and nation; and13

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to a rich and diverse population whose cultures,14
histories, and contributions have shaped the strength and resilience of our communities; and15
WHEREAS, fostering racial harmony and understanding is essentia l to achieving social16
justice, economic opportunity, and a unified future for all Georgians; and17
WHEREAS, in times of division and uncertainty, Race Amity Day s erves as a powerful18
reminder that unity, compassion, and friendship across racial a nd cultural lines are19
foundational to a thriving and inclusive society.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21
the members of this body recognize June 14, 2026, as Race Amity Day.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the24
public and the press.25
