26 LC 129 1519 Senate Resolution 1067 By: Senators Summers of the 13th, Hufstetler of the 52nd, Harbin of the 16th, Hodges of the 3rd, Dixon of the 45th and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Wilcox County High School Lady Patriots basketball team for winning1 the 2026 GHSA Class A Division II Girls Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Wilcox County High School Lady Patriots basketball team has established3 and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal empha ses on character and4 academics; and5 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball6 competition by posting an outstanding record of 29 wins and only one loss; and7 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team8 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable9 2026 campaign, the team captured its second consecutive state basketball championship; and10 WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to Wilcox County by winning the 202611 GHSA Class A Division II Girls Basketball Championship against Washington-Wilkes High12 School with a final score of 48 to 39; and13 S. R. 1067 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1519 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding14 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the15 team as well as its superb offensive and defensive talents; and16 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by17 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is18 abundantly proper to call them champions.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 congratulate the Wilcox County High School Lady Patriots basketball team for winning the21 2026 GHSA Class A Division II Girls Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for22 their continued success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Wilcox County25 High School Lady Patriots basketball team.26 S.
